Easy Oreo Truffles
Just four ingredients and no baking required! These easy Oreo truffles are perfect for parties, gifts, and every occasion.

Is it a Cake Ball or an Oreo Ball?
That was the question I asked myself as I set out to make this simple but delicious Oreo recipe. I've made cake balls on a couple of different occasions.
In fact, I recently made some Red Velvet Truffles that were out of this world. But cake balls start with, well, cake. It has to be mixed, baked, cooled, and crumbled before it can be used in cake balls.
These easy Oreo balls, though? They are ready to go! Mix them up in your food processor with cream cheese and voila! You've got your truffle filling!

I have used Oreos in a number of desserts, of course. But I'd never made a simple Oreo Truffle until tonight.
And y'all. . .I plan to make these again and again. I'll tell you more about my thoughts after I share the recipe.
But first, let's talk about where you can serve these easy treats. I'm loaded with ideas.

Oreo Truffle Ingredients

You will find a full printable recipe card at the bottom of this post. For now, here's a quick peek at what you'll need. Just a handful of ingredients!
- Oreo cookies (regular or thin)
- room temperature cream cheese
- almond bark (or chocolate almond bark, your choice)
- vegetable oil
If you're planning to decorate you'll also need coloring gel and sprinkles.
Note: I've made these all different ways - sometimes with white almond bark, sometimes with chocolate. I've even done Lemon Oreo Truffles. They were delicious!
How to Make these Easy Oreo Balls
These came together so easily!
Start by processing the entire package of Oreos in your food processor. I have a Thermomix but you could use a Ninja or whatever you happen to have.

It's possible to process your cookies in a large gallon-sized baggie. Use a rolling pin to pound the cookies down to fine crumbs.

Add the cream cheese to the Oreo crumbs. If you're using a food processor you can add the cream cheese and continue mixing. (This can also be done in a stand mixer with paddle attachment if you prefer.)

Once you've formed a dough you'll want to scoop out 1-inch balls and place them on a baking sheet that has been covered in waxed paper or a piece of parchment paper.

Place tray in freezer for 20 - 30 minutes or until set.
Place almond bark and vegetable oil in small microwave-safe bowl. Melt in microwave. I melted mine in 30-second intervals. Stir melted almond bark until smooth and creamy. Stir well. No lumps!

Dip your frozen Oreo balls. Tap off excess chocolate and place on a wire rack, which has been placed over a cookie sheet. Hint: put a piece of wax paper on the cookie sheet for easy cleanup.

Drizzle more chocolate in an alternate color and add sprinkles. (I used a piping bag for this part.) You want to add the sprinkles while the red drizzles are still wet.
Place in fridge to firm up and then serve in colorful mini cupcake liners. Voila! Gorgeous mini treats, perfect for your event!

Store in refrigerator in an airtight container or freeze (up to two months).
What to Expect from these Oreo Truffles
I mentioned above that I've made cake balls in the past and they were yummy. But y'all. . .these are better. . .for a bunch of reasons.
- First, the taste. There's something so simple and intoxicating chocolate and cream cheese. I can't even. . . and that candy coating? I loved the crunch!
- Second, the ease. I can't get over the fact that I didn't have to actually bake anything. Really? This is one of those simple recipes you'll enjoy time and time again.
- Third, they're pretty much foolproof! This Oreo truffle recipe turns out great!
Now that I see how simple these are, I plan to make them again and again. I'll probably make a batch for easter and shape them like eggs, (then decorate them in Easter colors).
Or maybe I'll make some at Christmas and drizzle red and green chocolate on top.
Or.....what about the 4th of July? Red, white and blue would be terrific!
Regardless of when you make them, this is an easy no bake dessert you're going to love! The perfect tasty treats!
Variations on this Recipe:
Make them for Valentine's Day! Just add a dot of pink oil-based color to the chocolate and drizzle in red or white.

These are delectable but I'm already thinking of things I can change or add to this easy dessert. Things like:
Mini chocolate chips: It might be fun to throw in a few.
Mint Oreos: Use mint in place of regular for a minty twist!
Lemon Oreos: Yum! I loved this idea so much that I made them right away! I used a full pack of Lemon Oreos and a block of cream cheese. (My filling was pretty loose, so feel free to cut back a little on the cream cheese.) Don't forget to freeze the balls before coating.
Hazelnut Oreos: Y'all. . .can you even imagine?
Nutter Butter Cookies: If you can make truffles out of ground-up Oreos, why not other cookies? Try a peanut-butter twist to this delicious recipe!
Biscoff Cookies: You might need to add a bit more cream cheese to make up for the lack of filling in the cookies.
Heart-shaped truffles: If you're really in the Valentine spirit you could form the Oreo dough into heart-shaped balls before coating in chocolate.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make Oreo truffles ahead of time? Absolutely! These are actually better made a day ahead. Make and dip them, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. They'll be perfectly set and ready to serve.
How long do Oreo truffles last? Stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator, they'll keep for up to two weeks. At room temperature they're fine for a few hours — perfect for parties and dessert tables.
Can you freeze Oreo truffles? Yes! Freeze them in a single layer first, then transfer to a freezer-safe container or bag. They'll keep for up to two months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before serving.
Do Oreo truffles need to be refrigerated? Yes — because of the cream cheese, they should be stored in the fridge when not being served.
How many does this recipe make? One standard package of Oreos makes approximately 36 truffles, depending on how large you roll them.
Why is my chocolate coating cracking? This usually happens when the truffle balls are too cold when dipped. Let them sit at room temperature for just 2-3 minutes after coming out of the freezer before dipping.
Can I use a different type of Oreo? Definitely! Golden Oreos, Mint Oreos, Lemon Oreos, and Peanut Butter Oreos all work beautifully. Each one gives you a completely different flavor truffle with the same simple method.
