Puff Pastry. . .and Macaroni?
I know, I know. It sounds crazy. But I promise, it's not. This simple recipe is probably going to end up being a family favorite. It's easy, it's unique, and you can eat these without dirtying up a bunch of dishes. They're even great as a party appetizer.
So, let's don't waste any time. Let's dive right in!
Mac and Cheese Bites Ingredients
- 1 box of Mac and Cheese (made as directed)
- 2 puff pastry sheets
- 1 8-ounce package grated cheddar
That's it! Just three ingredients.
How to Make Easy Mac and Cheese Bites
These come together in (literally) minutes.
Make the macaroni and cheese according to directions and set aside to cool.
Preheat oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit.
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
Unroll the puff pastry, leaving it on the parchment paper that it comes with.
Use a pizza cutter to divide it into two rectangles of the same size.
Run a line of grated cheddar up the center of each rectangle, as you see in the picture below.
Now carefully add the Mac and cheese.
Dampen the edges of the pastry with water. Fold over and press down.
Crimp the edges with a fork.
Cut into 1" squares. You should end up with 18 squares.
Repeat the process for the second roll of pastry.
Gently lift the uncooked pastries and place on parchment lines baking sheets. Leave a bit of space between them because they will swell as they bake.
Bake for 15 - 17 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove and place on wire rack to cool.
After about ten minutes transfer Mac and Cheese bites directly to the wire rack to continue cooling.
Serve and enjoy!
Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container. They will stay fresh up to four days. You can freeze these to heat later in your air fryer.
