Cupcakes for Christmas? Yes, Please!
I love dreaming up new ides for Christmas desserts. Cakes. Pies. Trifles. Cobblers. Pastries. You name it, I’m up for it. But’s let’s be honest: when you finally get right down to it–and you’re in the moment–sometimes whipping up a monstrous dessert with a thousand ingredients just feels too overwhelming.
Been there, done that.
And you know what I reach for when I’m tapped out and don’t feel like making something elaborate? Cupcakes. Yep, those simple, quick little treats that can be grabbed and eaten in a hurry.
Benefits of Cupcakes
I could give you quite the list of why I feel like cupcakes are the ideal offering, not just at Christmas time but any time of year. And for any event, too! (Hey, they’re even popular at weddings.)
Here are my top 10 reasons why I choose cupcakes:
1. Cupcakes are simple to make. The typical cupcake takes about 16 minutes to bake and can be whipped up in a hurry, often without even using a mixer.
2. Cupcakes are easy to transport. If you’ve ever tried to transport a tiered cake, you know what a headache that can be. Throw-away cupcake carriers, like these from Amazon, make that process so simple.
3. Cupcakes are incredibly easy to serve. No messy utensils necessary! You don’t have to slice ’em, dice ’em, or anything else!
4. Cupcakes are versatile. You can make them in a plethora of flavors and top with a variety of frostings.
5. Cupcake fillings are a breeze! You can add additional flavor profiles by filling with a simple custard, curd, or mousse. (Yum!)
6. You can tier cupcakes for a fancy presentation. Tiered cupcake stands are perfect for weddings, birthday parties, Mother’s Day events, and so on.
7. With cupcakes, there’s little risk of cross-contamination. When you ask your guests to slice their own cake or pie, you run the risk of sick folks touching the product. With cupcakes, the guests just grab one and go.
8. There’s no cleanup with cupcakes. When you leave a party after bringing cupcakes you don’t have to haul home a dirty trifle dish or cake platter.
9. Cupcakes offer Seasonal Options. You can turn a simple cupcake into something completely adorable that cries out, “Tis the season!” (Hint: that’s what this post is about!) You can make a cupcake into a Christmas tree, Santa’s face, a reindeer, or anything else you like with just a few added bits of edible decor.
10. Cupcakes allow your creativity to flow. You’re going to be amazed at all of the ideas you come up with!
