Breakfast in a Hurry
Have you ever been in a hurry but wanted to make something sweet for your loved ones? That was the predicament I found myself in this morning. I was headed to my daughter’s house and wanted to take something sweet for the grandkids.
It was pretty early in the day and we’re on holiday here in South Texas so I knew they probably hadn’t eaten breakfast yet. With that in mind, I decided to whip up an easy Monkey Bread using some canned cinnamon rolls.
I’ve made Monkey Bread before, using canned biscuits. But this time I wanted extra cinnamon. So I decided to use the same recipe, substituting cinnamon rolls for the biscuits.
And y’all. . .can I just say. . .wow!
This is one recipe so easy, so tasty, that I’ll be making it over and over!
Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread Ingredients
You will find a full printable recipe card at the bottom of this post but here’s a quick peek at the ingredients you’ll need for this fun Monkey Bread. You probably have most of these items in your kitchen already!
- Cinnamon Rolls (any brand)
- butter (salted or unsalted, your choice)
- granulated sugar
- ground cinnamon
- chopped pecans (optional)
- vanilla extract (optional)
That’s it! Just a handful of simple ingredients.
How to Make Cinnamon Roll Monkey Bread
This recipe came together so easily! You’re going to love the simplicity.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
Spray a bundt pan with non-stick spray. (I used Baker’s Joy.) Be sure to cover every spot or the monkey bread will stick.
Open two cans of cinnamon rolls. Set frosting aside.
Cut cinnamon rolls into quarters. They will probably break apart on you but that’s totally fine.
Place sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl and mix well.
Working a little at a time, coat one can of chopped biscuits in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
Place in the bottom of the prepared bundt pan.
Add a handful of the chopped pecans.
Now repeat the process with the second can of cinnamon rolls. Add them and then top with the rest of the pecans.
In a medium bowl add a stick of butter to the remaining cinnamon sugar mixture and microwave for one minute or until butter is completely melted. Mix well.
Pour over the cinnamon rolls, getting as much coverage as you can on the dough balls.
Place in preheated oven and bake for 35 minutes or until Monkey Bread turns a golden color.
Remove from oven and set bundt pan on wire rack to cool.
Allow to cool for 10 – 15 minutes.
Turn out onto a plate.
Swirl on the two packets of cream cheese frosting.
Sprinkle with more pecans.
Serve warm or cold.
Chances are pretty good you won’t have any left but if you do place it in an airtight container or cover with plastic wrap and store at room temperature. It should be good 2 – 3 days.
