Santa’s Sweet Journey: 31 Days of Christmas Baking at the North Pole
Follow Santa through 31 days at the North Pole with festive Christmas recipes, hungry elves, Rudolph, Mrs. Claus, and plenty of holiday fun.
There’s something magical about counting down the days until Christmas. The baking begins, lists get longer, presents start appearing under the tree, and anticipation builds a little more with every passing day.
But have you ever wondered what’s happening at the North Pole while we’re busy getting ready down here? Surely Santa doesn’t wait until December 24 to think, “I suppose I should check the sleigh.”
There are toys to make, reindeer to train, letters to read, presents to wrap, weather reports to watch, and one very important red suit that still needs to fit after an entire month of Christmas cookies. Somewhere in the middle of all that North Pole commotion, Mrs. Claus is probably standing in her kitchen wondering how Santa managed to eat the cookies she specifically told him were for the elves.
So this Christmas at Out of the Box Baking, we’re doing something a little different. We’re spending 31 days with Santa, following him through the North Pole one day at a time and enjoying a little Christmas adventure—and something sweet—at every stop.

December 1: Welcome to the North Pole
Snowflakes tap against Santa’s window as he wakes to the first morning of December. Outside, the North Pole is already bustling. Workshop lights glow through the snow, elves hurry from building to building, and somewhere in the distance a reindeer bell jingles.
Santa, meanwhile, is staring at a to-do list longer than the candy cane forest. Mrs. Claus hands him a warm mug of cocoa and reminds him to pace himself. Santa takes a sip, looks toward the workshop, and smiles. It’s going to be a busy month, but fortunately, it’s also going to be a delicious one.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Gingerbread Whoopie Pies
What better way to begin our North Pole adventure than with the warm, cozy spices of gingerbread? These Gingerbread Whoopie Pies are a fun Christmas treat and a sweet way to kick off our month with Santa.

December 2: Chaos in the Toy Workshop
Santa opens the workshop doors and walks straight into organized Christmas chaos. Hammers tap, bells jingle, toy trains whistle, dolls are being dressed, and teddy bears wait patiently for stuffing. The elves are working at top speed, but there’s one little problem: their stomachs are growling almost as loudly as the machinery.
Apparently, someone has forgotten to schedule snack time. Santa knows better than to expect hungry elves to meet Christmas Eve production quotas, so everything stops long enough for a well-earned cookie break.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies
A busy workshop calls for a good old-fashioned cookie, and these Old-Fashioned Oatmeal Cookies are just the thing to keep Santa’s crew going.

December 3: Mrs. Claus’s Kitchen
The North Pole kitchen smells like pure Christmas today. Mrs. Claus rolls dough, measures ingredients, and hums Christmas carols while trays move in and out of the oven. Naturally, the elves keep finding reasons to wander through the kitchen. “Just checking on you, Mrs. Claus!” they insist. Riiiiight.
Santa isn’t any better. He appears just as the first batch comes out of the oven and generously volunteers to perform quality control. Mrs. Claus lets him have one—maybe two—but she knows perfectly well he’ll be back the minute she turns her back.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Candy Cane Cookies

December 4: Sleigh Tune-Up Day
You wouldn’t head out on a round-the-world trip without checking your vehicle first, and neither does Santa. The sleigh sits on candy-striped lifts while North Pole mechanics inspect the runners, tighten hardware, polish the bells, and make sure everything is ready for Christmas Eve.
Santa gives the jingles a test shake and runs a hand along the polished side of the sleigh. Everything looks good so far. Christmas Eve is still twenty days away, but suddenly this whole adventure is starting to feel real.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Holiday Peppermint Bark
All those candy-striped surroundings have us thinking about peppermint, so today we’re enjoying Holiday Peppermint Bark. It's a favorite at the North Pole. . .and right here on earth!

December 5: Reindeer Roll Call
Santa walks into the reindeer barn with his clipboard. Dasher? Check. Dancer? Check. Prancer and Vixen? Ready. Comet, Cupid, Donner, and Blitzen? Present and accounted for.
And Rudolph? That famous nose is shining beautifully. Santa makes his way down the line, giving pats and encouragement while Blitzen pretends he has absolutely no idea what happens to Santa’s missing mitten. Everyone seems ready, but there are still nineteen days to go.

December 6: The Elves’ Annual Potluck
Tonight the workshop looks completely different. Tiny twinkle lights hang above the worktables, covered dishes appear everywhere, and elves arrive carrying treasured North Pole recipes while looking extremely proud of themselves.
Santa samples everything, strictly for research, of course. “Needs more sugar,” he announces after one bite. He says the same thing after the next—and the next. Mrs. Claus raises an eyebrow while Santa casually reaches for seconds.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Gingerbread Latte Cupcakes

December 7: Santa’s Cocoa and Cookie Break
Santa slips into the kitchen before anyone else is awake. The workshop is quiet, snow falls outside, and for once nobody needs him to inspect, approve, sign, taste, fix, or check anything.
He makes himself a mug of hot cocoa and settles in to enjoy the silence. Then he notices the cookie jar. Well, cocoa without a cookie would just be sad, wouldn’t it?
Today’s Sweet Treat: Perfect Peanut Butter Cookies

December 8: Mailroom Madness
Letters cover every available surface in the North Pole mailroom. There are requests for dolls, bicycles, puppies, games, art supplies, and a surprising number of things Santa has to ask an elf to explain.
Santa reads as many as he can. Some make him laugh, some include crayon drawings, and others are written in wobbly little letters that make his eyes misty. He reaches into his pocket for a cookie and looks at the enormous pile still waiting. It’s going to be a long day.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Peanut Butter Blossoms

December 9: A Cozy Night at the Claus House
The fire crackles while snow drifts against the windows. Santa settles into his favorite chair, and Mrs. Claus brings over something sweet. For a little while, nobody talks about production numbers, flight plans, weather, or lists.
They simply sit together beside the Christmas tree and enjoy the quiet. Even at the North Pole, some of the sweetest Christmas moments are the simplest ones.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Jelly Nougat Candy
Tonight’s nostalgic treat is Christmas Jelly Nougat Candy, a colorful old-fashioned candy that looks right at home on a Christmas treat tray. Santa's a fan, and you will be, too! (Yum!)

December 10: Rudolph Gets a Pep Talk
Rudolph is worried. What if the weather turns bad? What if visibility is poor? And, worst of all, what if his nose decides to flicker at exactly the wrong moment?
Santa listens patiently before giving his star reindeer the kind of pep talk only Santa can give. “You’re ready,” he assures him. Rudolph stands a little taller, and his nose seems to glow brighter. Behind him, Blitzen rolls his eyes.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Rice Krispie Treat Ornaments
Rudolph is keeping a close eye on these Rice Krispie Treat Ornaments—and not just because they’re round! These festive little treats are fun, colorful, and easy enough for the elves to help make. Santa says they belong on the dessert table, but Rudolph is pretty sure anything shaped like an ornament belongs on the tree. 🎄🎅🦌

December 11: A Workshop Mishap
It starts with glue. Somehow Santa’s boot ends up attached to a wooden train, and what follows involves several elves, one runaway toy, an unreasonable amount of glitter, and a great deal of shouting.
Eventually Santa is freed. His dignity? Not so much. Fortunately, he finds the whole thing hilarious, and before long everyone is laughing—including the elf who probably shouldn’t be trusted with industrial-strength glue again.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Hot Cocoa Fudge
Workshop emergencies call for chocolate. My Hot Cocoa Fudge sounds like exactly what this crew needs. It's creamy, and loaded with the sweet flavor of mini marshmallows.

December 12: North Pole Christmas Market Day
The snowy streets fill with Christmas market stalls today. Lights twinkle overhead, carolers sing, handmade ornaments hang from little booths, and wonderful smells seem to come from every direction.
Santa strolls from vendor to vendor while Mrs. Claus slips an extra bag of English Toffee into her basket. “For the elves,” she explains.
Riiiiight.
Today’s Sweet Treat: TRADITIONAL ENGLISH TOFFEE
Mrs. Claus pulls out an old family recipe for Traditional English Toffee, and suddenly everyone finds a reason to wander through the kitchen! Buttery, crisp, and topped with chocolate and nuts, this timeless Christmas candy proves that some treats never go out of style. Santa calls it tradition. Mrs. Claus calls it “Hands off until it cools!” 🎅🍫🎄

December 13: Wrapping Paper Everywhere
The wrapping room looks as though a tinsel tornado passes through it every five minutes. Paper rolls across the floor, bows stick to sleeves, gift tags end up in Santa’s beard, and tape disappears mysteriously just when somebody needs it.
Santa attempts to wrap a football. After several unsuccessful minutes, he stares at it, considers his options, and eats a cookie instead. Problem solving, North Pole style.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Hand-Painted Christmas Cookies
These Painted Sugar Cookies look like little Christmas works of art—almost too pretty to eat. Almost. I make them every year. . .and not just for Santa and his crew. 🙂
Coming tomorrow: Someone is awake long after bedtime.
December 14: Santa’s Midnight Snack
The Claus house is dark when Santa tiptoes into the kitchen. He carefully opens the cookie jar, trying his best not to make a sound.
Clink.
Santa freezes and listens. Nothing. He reaches inside, grabs a cookie, and quietly heads back toward bed, congratulating himself on a successful mission. The trail of crumbs behind him may prove problematic in the morning.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Molasses Cookies
Santa says these Old-Fashioned Molasses Cookies taste like Christmas used to taste. Soft, warmly spiced, and filled with that deep molasses flavor, they’re perfect with a mug of cocoa after a long North Pole day. Mrs. Claus calls them nostalgic. Santa just calls them “another, please.” 🎅🍪❤️
Coming tomorrow: The weather changes.
December 15: Snowstorm Incoming
The sky over the North Pole turns white as snow begins falling faster and faster. Before long, the entire village looks as though someone shakes powdered sugar over it. The elves love it, the reindeer prance through it, and the workshop roof disappears beneath a thick fluffy blanket.
Santa looks toward the sky and thinks about Christmas Eve. Mrs. Claus looks toward the snow and thinks about cookies. “Snowball weather,” she announces. She has a point.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Snowball Cookies
These Snowball Cookies (Mexican Wedding Cookies) look right at home at the North Pole! Buttery, nutty, and covered in a generous blanket of powdered sugar, they practically melt in your mouth. Santa says they’re delicious. Mrs. Claus says the trail of powdered sugar through the kitchen makes it very easy to see who keeps sneaking them. ❄️🎅🍪

December 16: Elf Rehearsal Night
Tonight the elves put down their tools and take the stage. They’ve prepared their annual farewell performance for Santa, complete with singing, dancing, costumes, and choreography that works beautifully until someone trips over the drum set.
The finale involves sparklers, confetti, and one small snowblower mishap, but Santa loves every minute. He rises for a standing ovation while Mrs. Claus quietly wonders who plans to vacuum.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Grinch Cupcakes
Even the Grinch has trouble resisting these Grinch Cupcakes! Bright, festive, and topped with plenty of Christmas cheer, they bring a little mischievous fun to the North Pole dessert table. Santa keeps an eye on the cupcakes—and an even closer eye on anyone whose heart might be three sizes too small. 💚🎅🧁

December 17: North Pole Pet Day
Today belongs to the animals. Santa makes his rounds visiting the furry and feathered residents of the North Pole, offering scratches, cuddles, and appropriate treats along the way.
By the time he finishes, his coat is covered in fur and his beard has been thoroughly investigated by several curious little noses. Santa doesn’t mind one bit. With Christmas Eve getting closer, a day spent loving on animals might be exactly the break he needs.
Today’s Sweet TreaT: Churro Nutella Christmas Tree
After a full day of scratches, cuddles, slobbery kisses, and more than a little fur in his beard, Santa is ready for a treat of his own. This Churro Nutella Christmas Tree is warm, sweet, chocolatey, and shaped for the season—the perfect thing to enjoy once all of the North Pole pets are fed, loved, and tucked in for the night.
Mrs. Claus takes one look at Santa’s fur-covered suit and tells him he can have seconds after he changes his clothes. 🎅🐾🎄

December 18: Santa’s Suit Fitting
Mrs. Claus holds up the red suit. Santa looks at it. She looks at him. For a moment, neither one says anything.
Finally, Santa puts it on, and Mrs. Claus gives one of the seams a suspicious little tug. “You’ve been taste-testing,” she says. Santa looks wounded. “Quality control.” Of course.
Fortunately, the suit still fits. Mostly. Mrs. Claus decides not to mention that she lets the waistband out just a smidge.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Gingerbread man cookies
After Mrs. Claus announces that Santa’s red suit is fitting a little more snugly than it did last year, you might think he’d stay away from the cookie jar. You would be wrong. These adorable Gingerbread Man Cookies are simply too tempting to resist.
Santa insists one little gingerbread man can’t possibly make a difference. Mrs. Claus reminds him that he said the same thing about the first six. 🎅🍪😂
Coming tomorrow: Santa personally performs final toy inspections. This may be a mistake.
December 19: Final Toy Testing
Quality control is serious business, which is why Santa rides a scooter through the workshop, bounces on a pogo stick, and tests several toys clearly designed for people considerably smaller than he is.
The elves cheer him on while Mrs. Claus watches from a safe distance. By the end of the afternoon, every toy passes inspection—and somehow Santa does, too.
Today’s Sweet Treat: Cookie jars for santa
Final toy testing means Santa spends the day pushing buttons, winding up toys, bouncing balls, and making sure everything is ready for Christmas Eve. After all that testing, he decides the DIY Cookie Jars for Santa deserve a little quality-control inspection, too.
The elves point out that the jars are technically supposed to be for Santa on Christmas Eve. Santa nods thoughtfully, reaches for another cookie, and says, “Exactly. We need to make sure they’re good enough.” 🎅🍪🎁
Coming tomorrow: It’s time to start loading the sleigh.
December 20: Packing the Sleigh
Now the countdown feels real. Elves form a relay line as packages begin making their way toward the sleigh, boxes stack higher, bags fill, and bells jingle as the final preparations begin.
Santa checks his list and then checks it again. Rudolph watches from nearby, looking increasingly important. Only four days remain, and everyone at the North Pole can feel the excitement building.
Today’s Sweet Treat: churro cookies
Packing the sleigh is serious business, and Santa quickly discovers that checking lists, lifting packages, and supervising elves works up an appetite. Luckily, a batch of Churro Cookies is nearby, with plenty of cinnamon-sugar goodness to keep the whole crew going.
Mrs. Claus reminds everyone that the cookies are supposed to be for the packing crew. Santa brushes a little cinnamon sugar from his beard and says, “I’m part of the crew.” 🎅🍪🎁
Coming tomorrow: For the first time all month, the North Pole begins to grow quiet.
December 21: One Quiet Night
The workshop lights dim, the reindeer settle into their stalls, and even the busiest elves finally head home. Santa sits beside the fire with a warm drink and something sweet, enjoying one of the last quiet moments he’ll have before the big night.
Tomorrow begins the final push. Tonight, he simply rests while snow falls softly over the North Pole. Christmas Eve is almost here.
Today’s Sweet Treat: nutter butter snowman cookies
With snow piling up outside and Christmas Eve getting closer, these adorable Nutter Butter Snowman Cookies fit right in at the North Pole. They’re sweet, silly, and almost too cute to eat.

December 22: Reindeer Carb-Loading Day
The reindeer barn is serious business today. Bowls of oats disappear at astonishing speed. Donner looks ready for action, Vixen is restless, and Rudolph keeps polishing his nose even though nobody asks him to.
Santa walks slowly down the line, speaking quietly to each member of his team. They know what’s coming, and so does he. After weeks of preparation, Christmas Eve is almost here.
Today’s Sweet Treat: gingerbread whoopie pies
Christmas Eve is getting close, and Santa finally has a quiet moment to enjoy these Gingerbread Whoopie Pies. Soft, warmly spiced gingerbread cakes sandwich a sweet, creamy filling—just the sort of treat that makes a cold North Pole evening feel extra cozy.
Mrs. Claus suggests he save one for tomorrow. Santa looks at the empty plate and says, “That would’ve been a good idea.” 🎅🍪❄️

December 23: Christmas Eve Eve Mayhem
Everything seems to happen at once today. Last-minute letters arrive, presents still need wrapping, elves race through the workshop, Mrs. Claus checks the route, and Santa checks the list again—and again.
“Why does everybody remember what they want today?” Santa asks. Nobody answers because nobody has time. The North Pole is operating at full speed now, and tomorrow is Christmas Eve.
Today’s Sweet Treat: peanut butter snowballs
It’s Christmas Eve Eve, and the North Pole is officially running on excitement, last-minute lists, and sugar! These Peanut Butter Snowballs are the perfect treat for the occasion—sweet peanut butter centers tucked beneath a snowy coating of chocolate.
Santa reaches for another and Mrs. Claus says, “Those are supposed to last until tomorrow.” Santa looks around at the Christmas Eve Eve chaos and replies, “So am I.” 🎅❄️🥜😂

December 24: Santa Takes Flight
Christmas Eve arrives at last. The entire North Pole gathers outside beneath a dark, starry sky while lanterns flicker against the snow. The sleigh gleams in the moonlight, every present is packed, and the reindeer paw impatiently at the ground.
Everything we’ve watched all month comes together in this moment. The sleigh we saw being inspected is ready. The elves who build, wrap, rehearse, and occasionally glue Santa to things stand together to say goodbye. The reindeer are strong and prepared, and at the front of the team stands Rudolph. No nerves now.
Santa hugs Mrs. Claus and climbs into the sleigh. He gathers the reins, looks at his team, and asks, “Ready?” The bells begin to ring, the reindeer run, and suddenly they’re flying—up over the workshop, over the reindeer barn, over the Claus house, and beyond the glowing lights of the North Pole.
Santa is on his way.

December 25: Merry Christmas from the North Pole
Christmas morning arrives quietly at the North Pole. The sleigh rests outside, the reindeer are sound asleep, and the workshop is dark. Finally, the front door of the Claus house opens and Santa steps inside.
His boots come off, his coat goes on its hook, and Mrs. Claus wraps her arms around him. “How was it?” she asks. Santa smiles. “Wonderful.”
She leads him toward the kitchen, where Christmas breakfast is waiting. After everything we’ve watched him do this month, I think he’s earned it.
Today’s Christmas Morning Treat: canned biscuit donuts
Merry Christmas, friends! I hope your day is filled with good food, people you love, and the joy that makes this season so special.
But don’t go anywhere. Santa’s story isn’t quite finished.
But Wait...What Happens After Christmas?
We spend all month wondering what Santa does before Christmas, but nobody talks much about December 26. Does everyone at the North Pole simply wake up cheerful and immediately start preparing for next year?
Not exactly.
We’re staying for six more days because, as it turns out, the aftermath of Christmas at the North Pole might be just as entertaining as the buildup.
December 26: Do Not Disturb Santa
The North Pole is silent today because Santa sleeps. And sleeps. And sleeps some more. Eventually, sometime in the afternoon, he emerges with his beard flattened on one side and the bewildered expression of a man who isn’t entirely certain what day it is.
“Is it still Christmas?” he asks. Mrs. Claus hands him something warm to drink and tells him no. “Good,” Santa says before turning around and going back to bed.
Today’s Post-Christmas Treat: S'Mores kiss Cookies
The sleigh is parked, the presents are delivered, and for once, nobody at the North Pole has anywhere to be. Santa and Mrs. Claus declare December 26 an official day off, and these S’mores Kiss Cookies are just right for nibbling while everyone lounges around in their pajamas.
Santa settles into his favorite chair, reaches for another cookie, and announces, “Wake me when it’s time for leftovers.”🎅🍪😴

December 27: Mrs. Claus Is Not Amused
Santa is recovering. The elves are nowhere to be found. And Mrs. Claus is standing in the middle of the North Pole looking at wrapping paper, confetti, dishes, stray ribbons, and approximately fourteen million crumbs.
Christmas magic, apparently, does not clean up after itself. Mrs. Claus rolls up her sleeves and surveys the damage. “Next year we’re hiring a cleaning crew.” Nobody is foolish enough to argue.
Today’s Treat for Mrs. Claus: peanut brittle
After surveying the North Pole disaster, Mrs. Claus decides there is only one reasonable course of action: make herself a batch of Old-Fashioned Peanut Brittle. It’s buttery, crunchy, packed with peanuts, and—most importantly—she has absolutely no intention of sharing it.
Santa wanders into the kitchen and reaches for a piece.
Mrs. Claus looks at him.
Santa slowly puts it back. 🎅😂🥜

December 28: The Elves Demand a Vacation
The elves arrive wearing sunglasses. One carries a suitcase. Another wears a beach hat. Together they present Santa with a formal request that gets straight to the point: WE LOVE YOU, BOSS, BUT WE’RE TIRED.
Santa reads it from his recliner and immediately says, “Approved.” The celebration is instant, and Mrs. Claus starts looking at travel brochures. After the month they’ve had, nobody can blame them.
Today’s Vacation Treat: Crock Pot Candy
The elves are officially off the clock, and nobody wants to spend the first day of vacation standing over a stove. Enter Crock Pot Candy—an easy, chocolatey treat that practically makes itself while the elves pack their suitcases and hunt for their sunglasses.
One elf asks if they should leave some behind for Santa. Another closes the suitcase and says, “He had all of December.” 😂🎅🏖️🍫
Coming tomorrow: Rudolph has become absolutely unbearable.
December 29: Rudolph Cannot Stop Bragging
Rudolph struts through the reindeer barn like a celebrity. “Did you see that landing?” he asks. Everyone saw it. “Perfect trajectory.” They know. He launches into another story about flying through difficult weather until one of the other reindeer finally shouts, “WE KNOW, RUDOLPH!”
Rudolph smiles, and his nose glows a little brighter. The others may roll their eyes, but they’re secretly proud of him. And frankly? Rudolph knows he nails it.
Today’s Celebratory Treat: Crumbl Cookies
Rudolph has spent the entire day reliving his Christmas Eve triumph, so naturally he thinks a celebration is in order. These festive Copycat Crumbl Cookies are big, sweet, and completely over the top—which, at the moment, makes them a pretty good match for Rudolph himself.
He takes one look at the sprinkles and says, “You know, these really should have a red one right in the middle.” The other reindeer groan. 🦌🍪😂
Coming tomorrow: Santa makes an unfortunate wardrobe decision.
December 30: Santa Tries on the Suit
Santa looks at his red suit hanging nearby. After a month of cookies, fudge, cupcakes, candy, and Mrs. Claus’s cooking, curiosity gets the better of him.
He tries it on. One button appears to be under considerable stress. Santa immediately removes the suit and announces, “That’s it. Soup month starts tomorrow.”
Mrs. Claus doesn’t even look up. “You say that every year.”
Today’s One-Last-Treat-Before-Soup-Month: spice cake
If Santa is declaring soup month tomorrow, he figures he might as well go out in style. This warm, cozy Christmas Spice Cake is packed with the flavors of the season and makes a perfectly respectable final indulgence after an entire month of North Pole treats.
Mrs. Claus watches him cut an especially generous slice and asks, “I thought the suit was too tight?”
Santa nods. “Exactly. The damage is already done.” 🎅😂🍰

December 31: New Year’s Eve at the North Pole
The workshop is clean again, the reindeer are rested, and the elves return from vacation looking considerably happier. Lights sparkle across the North Pole as everyone gathers to say goodbye to another year.
Santa raises his mug while Mrs. Claus stands beside him. Rudolph is still talking about Christmas Eve, because of course he is. Santa looks around at the elves, reindeer, workshop, and all of the people who make Christmas possible.
Then he smiles.
“Same time next year?”
Everyone cheers, and somewhere in the kitchen Mrs. Claus is already baking.
Today’s New Year’s Eve Treat: soft christmas peppermints
The North Pole party is winding down, but Mrs. Claus has one last treat to pass around. These Soft Christmas Peppermints are sweet, creamy, melt-in-your-mouth little bites—the perfect old-fashioned candy for saying goodbye to Christmas and hello to a brand-new year.
Santa pops one into his mouth and reaches for another. Mrs. Claus raises an eyebrow. “Soup month, remember?”
Santa smiles. “It’s not midnight yet.” 🎅😂🎉
