How to Use Puff Pastry in Apple Pie

This is a simple recipe that calls for a roll of puff pastry and apple pie filling. Sounds easy, right? But when you bake it up in pie tins you end up with hand-pies that are delicious and easy!

I don’t know about you, but simple and tasty is always a win in my book?

Let’s dive right in!

Puff Pastry Apple Pie Ingredients

  • 1 can apple pie filling 
  • 2 packages store-bought puff pastry
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

That’s it! Just a few simple ingredients!

How to make Puff Pastry Apple Pies

Like I said, these come together in minutes!

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. 

Start by prepping a muffin tin with Baker’s joy.

Roll out one package of puff pastry and flip onto the pan. 

Pull dough away from the edges and toward the center. 

Gently stretch dough in each hole being careful not to tear.

Fill each hole with pie filling. (I chose apple but you can choose any flavor you like.)

Sprinkle filling with about half of the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Brush water along the edges of the dough so the top pastry will stick. 

Open the second puff pastry package and gently lay the pastry on top.

Trim away any excess. 

Use a pizza cutter to cut dough as seen in picture.

Sprinkle with remaining cinnamon sugar mixture.

Press with fork tines along all edges.

Go back over the cut lines with the pizza cutter. 

Place in preheated oven and bake for 15 – 18 minutes or until golden brown.

Remove and place tin on wire rack to cool. 

Once fully cooled you can remove the pies from their slots.

Serve and enjoy.

Store leftover pies in the fridge in an airtight container. They should stay good for 3-4 days. You can serve them cold or re-warmed in the microwave or an air fryer.

  16. Remove and place tin on wire rack to cool.
  17. Once fully cooled you can remove the pies from their slots.
  18. Serve and enjoy!
  19. Store in airtight container in refrigerator for 3-4 days.
