Easter Blossom Cookies

These delightful little sugar cookies are colorful, bright, and loaded with flavor. They are perfect for your Easter celebration, bright and festive.

What are Classic Blossom Cookies?

Blossoms are cookies that have a Hershey’s Kiss pressed into the center.

Ordinarily I make Classic Peanut Butter Blossoms. Though, I have been known to press a mint chocolate kiss into the center of my Christmas cookies.

When you color the dough (or use colorful sprinkles) the cookie takes on the appearance of a flower.

Most people love these simple cookies because of the addition of the Hershey’s Kiss. (Hey, any opportunity to add chocolate to a recipe is a good thing!)

You will find a full printable recipe card at the bottom of this post with all of the measurements listed. Here’s a quick peek at the ingredients you’ll need. They’re simple items you likely have in your pantry and refrigerator right now.

How to Make Easter Blossom Cookies

These were some of the easiest cookies I’ve ever made.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Place parchment paper on two cookie sheets.

Place butter and sugar in a mixing bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer. Mix until light and fluffy. If you don’t have a stand mixer, an electric mixer will work just fine. You could even mix these by hand, if you like.

Add egg and vanilla and continue to mix until fully incorporated.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt.

Slowly work the dry ingredients into the wet. Mix on low speed until the dough comes together.

Scoop into 1″ dough balls using a small cookie scoop. Roll in various bowls of colored sugar.

Set on parchment paper lined baking sheet.

I use Nordic Ware pans, along with the perfect parchment sheets that are pre-cut to fit the half-sheet perfectly!

Place in preheated oven.

Bake for 9 – 10 minutes until they are fully set.

Remove from oven and press chocolate kisses into the center of each cookie. Don’t worry about them melting. They’ll end up retaining their shape in the end.

Store in an airtight container. Cookies will stay fresh for 4 – 5 days.

What to Expect from These Easter Blossom Cookies

These are delightful crisp sugar cookies with just the right punch of chocolate in the middle from the Hershey kisses.

These spring blossom cookies are crisp on the edges, soft in the interior, and that sanding sugar adds extra crunch that makes the whole experience delightful.

I just loved these easy soft sugar cookies! This is one of those easy recipes you’ll use again and again!

Variations on this Easter Cookies Recipe

This is such a fun, simple recipe but there are always ways to mix things up. Here are a few suggestions:

Sprinkles: Add brightly colored sprinkles (not sanding sugar, but actual sprinkles) to the dough.

Lemon Pound Cake Cookies: Use my Lemon Pound Cake cookies as a base for blossom cookies. If you like, you can add flavored kisses in place of chocolate.

Cookie Butter: It might be fun to use cookie butter in your sugar cookie dough to add extra warmth and flavor.
