Apple Galettes Ingredients

You will find a full printable recipe card at the bottom of this post but here's a quick peek at what you will need.

  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 2 tablespoons room temperature butter
  • 3 large apples
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1 egg (whisked)

How to Make Apple Galettes

These come together so easily and they're so beautiful to serve!

Start by preheating your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.

Slice and core apples as you see in the picture. Place in a bowl and add the cinnamon and sugar. Stir well.

Roll out the sheet of ice cold puff pastry. Spread with room temperature butter. (I used a pastry brush but you can use the back of a spoon if you don't have a brush.) Cut dough into size squares. (I used a pizza cutter.) Stack apples in the center and roll up the edges as you see in the pictures.

Brush edges with egg wash, then place in preheated 400 degree oven and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown. Remove from oven and place on wire rack to cool. Once cooled, serve and enjoy!

What to Expect from these Apple Galettes

These are simple and delicious, the perfect impressive treat. I loved the crisp apples, sugary and loaded with cinnamon flavor. And of course I adored the puff pastry. (I'm crazy about puff pastry treats, as you've probably figured out by now.)

These are a huge success and I can't wait to see what you guys think of them! Let me know in the comments if you make them.

Pie Crust (large galette)

The most obvious is to use a store bought pie crust in place of a puff pastry and make a larger version of the galette.

You'll have to adjust your baking time for this larger dessert but you can have so much fun placing the apples in a lovely arrangement, like you see in the picture below as you use the whole circular pie crust. Bake on a pizza pan.

Larger Puff Pastry Version

You can also use a puff pastry to accomplish this same look. Use a pie place as a guide to cut your puff pastry into a large circle, then load it up with the sugary apples. You will likely have to bake the pastry a bit longer. Keep an eye on it.

Add-ins:

You can add any of the following to the apples:

  • Apple pie spice (½ teaspoon)
  • Pumpkin pie spice (½ teaspoon)
  • ½ cup craisins

That’s it for this post, friends! I hope you enjoyed this delicious recipe.
