How to Make an Apples and Bananas Cake
Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
You’re not going to believe how easily this apples and bananas cake comes together, y’all! It’s very much like the apple spice cake recipe, but with the addition of mashed bananas (and less applesauce).
Here’s how you’re going to make it:
Spray a bundt pan with Baker’s Joy (or grease and flour pan)
In a small bowl, mash bananas and set aside.
Place flour, soda, baking powder, cinnamon, apple pie spice, and salt in a small bowl and whisk together. Set aside.
În a medium bowl place room temperature butter and brown sugar.
Mix well. I mixed mine by hand because I was trying to relieve some book deadline stress. Feel free to use a hand mixer or even a stand mixer with paddle attachment.
Add eggs and continue to mix.
Add applesauce. Mix well.
Add mashed bananas.
Mix until it all comes together.
Now stir in the dry ingredients until fully incorporated.
Scoop batter into the prepared bundt pan. Spread evenly.
Place on center rack in preheated oven and bake for 40 minutes or until golden brown. A toothpick should come out clean.
Remove from oven and place on wire rack to cool.
After about 15 minutes turn out directly onto rack.
Make your caramel glaze. You can make your own caramel buttercream by mixing two sticks of butter with two cups of powdered sugar, then adding a dash of cream and however much caramel sauce you like.
Drip over the cake.
If you don’t want to bother with all of that, you can just drizzle the cake with plain caramel.
Slice and serve!
Store leftovers in an airtight container in refrigerator.
