We Go Together

God sets the lonely in families, he leads out the prisoners with singing; but the rebellious live in a sun-scorched land. (Psalm 68:6 NIV)

A Lovely Pairing

A few weeks ago I made a new-to-me type of cookie.

I took my strawberry crinkles and lemon crinkles and merged the doughs together into one cookie, which I called a Strawberry-Lemonade Crinkle cookie.

My family members loved them! (They were yummy, for sure.) There’s something about the mergence of flavors of strawberry and lemon: they really work together. They’re terrific companions.

Great Companions are a Good Thing

Check out the verse from Psalm 68 above. the Bible says that God places the lonely in families. Symbolically speaking, He places the lemons with the strawberries, knowing they will pair well together.

So, are you a lemon. . .or a strawberry?

Regardless, if you’re feeling a little lost and alone, maybe it’s time to reach out to a friend. Join a small group at church. Call an old friend you haven’t seen in years.

In short, put yourself out there. Link arms with someone–or a handful of someones–that you get along with. God never meant for you to walk this road alone. He’s always intended for you to live in community.

So, what are you waiting for? Live in community, friend. It’s God’s way!

When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives means the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand.
