Chocolate Crunch Bars

If you love the texture and flavor of a Nestles’ Crunch Bar but you don’t happen to have on handy, this is the post for you! With just 2 – 3 ingredients, you can make your own Chocolate Crunch Bars!

Sometimes Nothing but Chocolate will Do

That’s the frame of mind I was in when I started looking online for chocolate crunch bar recipes.

It all started with a teeny-tiny Nestles’ crunch bar. I ate it in just a few seconds and found myself wanting more. But of course I wasn’t going to leave my work and my home to drive to the store just for a chocolate bar.

That’s when it hit me: make your own.

I happened to have a big box of rice Crisps cereal, the WalMart Rice Krispies generic. And I had about a cup and a half of milk chocolate chips. So, I started browsing online to find the perfect recipe. Surely there had to be more to it than that, right?

Turns out, there’s no real “recipe” for these, though some websites call for random additions (like white chocolate or peanut butter). To make a traditional bar you really just need a couple of things!

Chocolate Crunch Bar Ingredients

You’ll find a printable recipe card at the bottom of this post but here’s a look at what you’ll need.

  • Milk chocolate chips
  • Rice Krispies
  • Vegetable (or coconut) oil to help the chocolate melt

That’s literally it, friends! You can read the recipe card at the bottom of this post for measurements, but let’s talk quickly about how to make these.

How to Make Chocolate Crunch Bars

Prepare a cupcake pan (or muffin tray) with 12 liners. Set aside.

Place full bag of milk chocolate chips into a microwave-safe bowl. Add a tablespoon of oil (coconut or vegetable).

Melt in 30-second increments in the microwave until melted. (Mine took 2 minutes, total.) Stir until smooth.

Stir in equal parts rice cereal. Stir well until cereal is coated.

Use an ice cream scoop to fill the liners to about the halfway point. This recipe should make 12 (or possibly a few more). You don’t want the bars to be thick. You want to be able to bit into them comfortably.

Place tray in the refrigerator so the bars can chill.

Serve and enjoy!

You can keep these bars in a cool, cry place. If you refrigerate them, let them sit at room temperature for a while before serving. Otherwise you might break a tooth!
